Been working all week at a new studio about an hour and half north of miami- the tunes- are thre most collaborative effort i've been involved with to date. It helps that the producers are like minded both musically and in other areas of humanity...conversation is top notch! Oh and musically it's pretty fantastic...i'm not playing as many of the instruments, but focusing on being as meticulous with my words and melodies... look forward to sharing this music soon...
it's kind of like the calm before the storm in miami...eerily quiet. The x factor aired and i was a short part. the impending doom begins!!! haha! keep ya posted! very very very very busy and starting to record regularly in a studio i really enjoy!
a gust of wind blows in, but it don't matter cause i'm sleeping. haha. August has been pretty intense. i ran off to los angeles to do a super secret taping of a competition to air later in the year... i hope i make it.. but i also secretly hope i don't. theyve got you jumping through all sorts of hoops. choreography is not my thing! and the only give you a subway snadwhich and some chips and of course all the pepsi you could drink! but jesus the talent is a little wack.. lots of young people.
hot and hitting san francisco...boston...new york...los angeles..and it seems like i'm lucking out on the weather...it like every monday is nicer then the last..been singing with different musicians in each city...very grateful that Appleton Rum and Remixology gave me this opportunity...yes i say appleton like a salesman. they've given me a great opportunity to get out and find great musicians all around the country. and to drink the finest rum in town!
When you can get to the deepest parts of the hampton's in long island- you should. surfers, fancy folks, but most importantly a breeze and some booze. it's true north eastern beach time. and i love it. it doesnt hurt that i get to perform at sunset with my band and they buy me dinner!!!
After several years of holding a residency at the Florida Room at Delano Hotel...we've moved the new band---or old band, depending on how you look at it-- to the W just a few blocks up... i hope that its as good a fit as it feel like it's going to be... it'll always be best if the fans make the exodus along with us...
Looking forward to MAY and JUNE!! I scored a contract with Appleton Rum and my friend who runs a great company called Contemporary Cocktails... it faciliatates the needs of those who need a cocktail or want to share their cocktails with others... i wrote this... "mixology is chemistry and psychology, human zoology, with no apologies, you can get solid d's in your a,b,c,s but you've got to appreciate human history when unlocking the mystery of spirits through the ages...it'll put a beast to sleep or make him break out of his cages- it happens in fazes..."
birthday was a blast literally...but no love making in the bounce house...bummer. i think i'll get one yearly though...i just have too. as a commemorative celebration to remember my twenties and say good bye to the big bounce!
i got myself a bounce house for my birthday. and had this awesome chef to cater a small party for my friends and family... now i just have to figure out who my friends are!!! haha...i've fallen in love with fireworks...i'm going to shoot them off (it's kind of like marijuana in europe) it's legal to buy it and it's legal to sell it,but unless your the proprietor of a fireworks license..it's not legal to light em) in any case...the addage "tis better to ask for forgiveness then permission" Musically i'm at a much more better place now that i don't have so much baggage- though i doubt i'm out of the woods yet...contractual bs...from a guy who really sucks... I'm also working on my own music...at my house.. all this hoopla about the right studio and the right engineer and the right mic isn't going to slow me down for right now...i need to make some new tracks... one is kind of dance friendly... some new lyrics are still playful and light... but there's also a collabo going on with a boat captain...and after a late night of drinking we wrote.. "she don't love me and why... she's got too much baggage to fly..."
hardly the avid basket ball watcher but a huge fan of the sport. March really isn't so much about that for me- but more about the anger that comes from unaccomplished expectations- and the frustrations that come from people saying one thing and doing another. a milestone birthday is a month away and the pressures of this decade seem to be mounting. i'm supposed to trust the process but if the process is in another persons hands- and i don't trust them- how can i trust the process... ah well... Perspective is a weird word.. i wonder where it comes from... (Medieval Latin perspectīva ars the science of optics, from Latin perspicere to inspect carefully, from per- (intensive) + specere to behold)) in any case.. i think i'm going to gamble it all and audition for one of those singing tv competitions on tv... but i probably shouldnt say anything till it's happened...
completely sober. a musical note on my left middle finger. they say finger tattoos don't last- but i'm not so worried about that. i've always liked my hands...for their day to day usefulness- as well as their musical affinity. the note reminds me of a special person and the special-ness of music...as a unifying force between people and feelings. a day spent in the sunlight under a large banyon tree (my favorite type of tree) led to a quick stop at the parlor...and my first tattoo
What with my whole life being in notebooks, the desire to just kind of free write has been there very often. normally my entries are songs or poems (songs not put to music- the way i see it) but as the new year begins and a lot of things have changed i'm thinking it might be a good idea to keep track of my thoughts or perspectives- as well as my creative process... i've found some inspiration in January...lyrics have been wordy but fun... "call me when you get in town i'd like to sneak around" leads into a chorus.."bundled up and barefoot is how i want to be- your picture perfect priceless but in life there's a fee- let's give into the language- every sentence sentenced me- but tonight we break free" ---
